Extra-Curricular Activities |
|
There are many English related extra-curricular activities: Junior Drama, House Drama and Senior Drama all need enthusiastic actors, administrators, stage managers and directors. The department regularly organises theatre trips to see set texts and other plays in performance. A joint English and Geography trip to Stratford Upon Avon includes either a visit to the RSC or to the Shakespeare Birthplace. Year 9 really enjoyed "The Tempest" in 2006: Even when there has been no suitable production at Stratford, our students have often been entertained by small groups of thespians presenting short scenes from the plays in the garden of Shakespeare's Birthplace.
Teachers in the Art and Literature departments are currently in the process of setting up an informal and explotatory cross-curriculuar discussion group, making links betweendifferent art forms. Sixth formers have shown great interest and we anticipate a lively and stimulating series of meetings.
See the Drama Productions and Reading Groups pages for more details.
