Art GCSE

GCSE

Students follow the OCR syllabus in Art & Design: Fine Art.

During the course two units of work are produced for assessment, which accounts for 60% of the GCSE.

Work produced addresses four elements of Art;

  • Recording ideas through drawing, photography etc.
  • Reacting to the work of artists, using the information to develop their own work
  • Exploring media, refining skills and ideas
  • Using supporting studies to produce a final realised piece/s.

The course culminates in an exam in which also tests all the above skills.  Pupils have six weeks to organise their preparatory studies, and 10 hours to produce the final piece.  This accounts for the remaining 40% of the GCSE.

The work shown is the response to the 2009 examination paper.
