AS LEVEL
This follows the AQA Art & Design: Fine Art syllabus and 2 units of work are developed over 12-13 weeks each. Staff-led starting points encourage students to focus on observational drawing, experiment with media, appreciate and understand artists' work from a range of contexts and generate a refined, resolved, personal response.
An eight week period following external exams allows staff to encourage new ways of approaching media and subject matter without the constraints of external assessment. At this time students experiement further and establish ideas for development into Year 13 . Parallel to this experience, students complete the overview of Art History and Critical & Contextual studies that intersperses the course during Units 1, 2 and 3. Visits to the University of Wolverhampton School of Art & Design Degree Show, the city's Museum and Art Gallery and a selection of London Galleries feature throughout the course.
