House Arts 2007
The House Arts performances this year turned out to be as spectacularly produced as in previous years, and all high expectations were successfully met.
The morning began with a very excited but tense atmosphere among both the audience and performers, and after ‘enjoying’ the annual pieces of comic genius from Mr Thorpe, Paget set the high standard that was to be continued throughout the morning, with their themed drama piece. The themes this year were madness, conflict, independence and time. Each was interpreted, as always, in an individual way – Chaucer, Disney and Blackadder being just some of the routes taken to fully develop the themes.
Popular performances included Paget’s moving portrayal of the final episode of Blackadder Goes Forth and Stafford’s fantastic rendition of ‘Seasons of Love’ (complete with excellent solo and group sections). Audley’s version of Chaucer and Ferrers’s Disney Musical Extravaganza were both warmly praised by the judge. This year’s dance routines were so well-received by both the judge and the audience that individual performances just had to be highlighted, including those of Shireen Rahim and Sonam Arora. Among the many highly polished performances were several outstanding acts. These really highlighted the hard work and dedication shown by WGHS pupils and the importance of this event in the school calendar. Alexandra Moore 11M and Karishma Mali 11L
