WGHS Parent's Guild

THE GUILD HAS RAISED £30,000 in the last three years.  Van de Graaf Generator

We don’t hold all the answers to fundraising and if you think that you have a good idea or a social event mix please get in touch, we appreciate any fresh ideas. Please email us here.

Without the Guild the school would find it difficult to put on large evening grand occasions and create extra curricula opportunities for all.

With your help we can do much more.

Below you can see some of our achievements to date, as well as the Guild-financed items that your daughter benefits from everyday and are there for all to see.

Here’s some of the ways both BIG and small  where we’ve made a difference…..

Hitting new heights with 7 bouncy mats for the gym - allowing for the first time the teaching of high jump.  Mats double up as gym mats for those all-important healthy lessons and gymnastics club.  Remember we were City Champions in 2007 at senior level and runners up in junior. Cost £7,000.

21st Century Cooks - now have an interactive whiteboard in the Food Technology Room and a suite of computers. Cost £7,000.

Up to the minute information in the entrance hall – a Plasma Screen with the latest news, views and day to day updates your daughter needs. Cost £3,000.

Oliver brings a new twist to the library - providing a web-based, better functioning learning environment closer to the experience that girls will meet in HE and University.  Your daughter can also access the service from home.  Cost £3,000.

The Grand Draw - brings £1,000s to the library each year allowing the WGHS librarian to purchase materials and books over the last five years. Cost £6,000

My Fair Lady to Blackadder - have used the state of the art drama facilities that have been enhanced with a cash injection from the Guild. Cost £5,000.

Wired for sound - the main hall has had a new sound and PA system installed. Cost £7,000.

Stone effect all-weather benches - to make pupils’ al fresco lunch more enjoyable.  Two new benches made from recycled materials arrived in 2007 and at the girls’ request we are looking at purchasing more for 2008. Cost £1,500.

Music software and bumper interactive whiteboard – Go! Go bop the beat! So that GCSE and ‘A’ level students can make use of the internet when composing music for set parts of the national curriculum and most definitely raising their attainment levels. Cost £3,000.

Hair raising ideas - a new Van de Graaf Generator to update equipment in the science laboratories Cost £140.

‘Authentik’ Spanish - subscription to Spanish newspapers and dictionaries. Cost £200.

Getting that shot at being a Damien Hirst! - Digital camera, drying racks and plan chest, enabling art students to occupy another room and develop their creative skills. Cost £1,000.

Project requests for the future are:
More benches - say the girls
New projection facilities in the hall - say the staff.
