Geography - Years 10 and 11 Key Stage 4

We follow OCR Specification C ( Bristol Project ) at GCSE. The Units of Study are:



  • Population and Settlement.

  • Physical Systems and Environment.

  • Economic Systems and Development.

  • Natural Hazards and People.

  • Sustainable Development.

The structure of assessment is as follows:


  • Coursework 20%


  • Decision Making Exercise. 30%


  • Terminal Examination 50%

In Year 10 a 3 night residential fieldtrip is organised. This takes us to Broadhaven YHA in Pembrokeshire. Topics studied on this trip include: Industrial diversification in the South Wales coalfield, coastal processes and landforms, a study of a deciduous woodland ecosystem, impact of tourism on Tenby and an introduction to the management issues within a National Park.


In Year 11 a day is spent in the Berwyn mountains, on the Welsh borders looking at the legacy of glaciation upon the landscape.
