Staffing Information KS3 Syllabus The KS3 syllabus is divided into 4 main attainment targets; Number, Algebra, Shape, Space and Measures and Handling Data. The Using and Applying Mathematics attainment target is covered in all the above via investigational activities, puzzles and strategy games. All mathematics lessons, where appropriate, follow the National Numeracy Strategy guidelines for the three-part lesson. They begin with an oral starter, followed by the main teaching activity and ending with a plenary. Lessons are taught using a variety of teaching and learning styles and the department now has 2 interactive whiteboards which are fully utilised in mathematics lessons. The textbook used, Essential Mathematics (Book 7, 8 and 9 (Higher Level)) by David Rayner also supports the National Numeracy Strategy.
