- The Battle of Hastings
- The Black Death
- The Peasant's Revolt
Term 2 and 3:
The Making of the UK: Especially Henry VIII and his changes to the Church.
Also Field Trip to Ludlow Castle.

Why did William win the Battle of Hastings?
What was the impact of the Black Death?
Was Henry VIII a Protestant or a Catholic?
Learning activities
Discussion, source analysis: role plays; use of ICT.
Individual research and group work.
Assessment
Homework tasks include long answer questions, source questions and project work.
Pupils are given guidance about the meaning of their marks.
There are key assessments on the Battle of Hastings, Black Death and the closure of the monasteries and an end of year exam which assesses long term progress.
