Information and Communication Technology

Staffing Information
Head of Department: Mrs A. Wainwright
Network Manager:
 Mr. N.A. Del-Manso

ICT is more than just another teaching tool within the school; it has the potential to enrich the girls' education across the curriculum. There is an increasingly wide range of facilities and equipment available for the pupils to use and enhance their learning at WGHS.

We have 3 suites of computers, including one in the language college where video conferencing facilities are available, which are networked centrally as well as clusters of machines in maths, science, history, food, music and resistant materials technology. There are 16 interactive whiteboards in classrooms throughout the school.

One suite is a dedicated room for discrete ICT lessons and has 29 computers allowing every girl in the teaching group individual access. Another is part of the language college and again has 29 computers. There is lunchtime and after school supervision available to enable the girls to complete homework. We make every effort to ensure that girls without computer access at home are not disadvantaged. Girls are taught to become independent and discerning users of ICT, who will have the confidence to adapt to any system they may be faced with at university and in future employment.
