The Science Extranet
Science is split into the three main subjects divisions of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Each subject is taught by specialists in that area. At KS3 eight periods a week is allocated to science. Homework for each subject is the same regardless of the number of periods taught that year. The Heinemann Scheme Books are used as these fit in well with the QCA recommendations for work to be covered at KS3. We deliver these topics within the Science Framework, emphasising the key ideas set out within it.
| Biology | Chemistry | Physics | Homework per subject | Y7 | 1 period | 2 periods | 1 period | 30 minutes | Y8 | 1 period | 1 period | 2 periods | 30 minutes | Y9 | 2 periods | 1 period | 1 period | 40 minutes |

At GCSE the students follow an AQA science course that allows them to obtain a qualification in three separate sciences. A six period allocation means that each subject has 2 periods each in a week - homework of 45 minutes per subject a week. The links below summarise the content for each separate discipline.
Homework allocation for each science subject is 45 minutes per week. Links to the official AQA syllabus pages:
