We follow the OCR specification for Physical Education. There are three main aspects to the course assessment which are outlined below.
A whole range of interesting topics are covered within the theoretical components. Some examples are key concepts and key processes in PE, opportunities, pathways & participation in PE, fitness testing and designing fitness programmes, what makes a skillful movement? goal setting, diet. Understanding how body systems such as the skeletal system, muscular system and circulatory system affect performance & participation. Risk assessment & injury treatment, plus many more. Within the practical component, candidates need to be able to perform to a high standard in 4 different practical activities. The following activities will be delivered in school: Hockey, netball, gymnastics, dance, exercise to music, badminton, tennis, rounders and athletics. If an individual performs to a high standard in a practical activity outside of school and the activity is accepted by the examination board then they may also be assessed in this activity. Within the first term of the Year 10, pupils are offered the opportunity to attend a four day residential trip to High Adventure DEC in North Yorkshire. They will complete two assessments in different activities from orienteering, rock climbing, canoeing & mountain biking. ![]() ![]()
