Physical Education - Extra – Curricular Activities |

The department offers a wide range of activities that girls can attend during both lunch times and after school. The activities are open for all girls to attend and enjoy their participation in the activities. We do also have a number of competitive teams and have a history of some success in different sports and activities.
Netball There is a netball team for each year group in the school. We are proud that we often experience success in the local leagues and tournaments. Often being runners-up or winners. We have also experienced success with some of our teams at the South Stafforshire Tournaments.
We have a number of girls from different age groups that have been selected to be members of South Staffordshire County netball academy.

Hockey There is an extra-curricular hockey club available for all years. Most practices take place on the school site on both the schools tennis courts and in the sports hall. We also access Aldersley astro-turf pitch for some after school practices and matches in order to give the girls the opportunity to develop and improve their skills on this surface.
Badminton There is a badminton club for all year groups. These are open to all abilities and have a friendly and sociable atmosphere to them. We do enter teams in to the local Wolverhampton league and tournaments. Both our Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 teams are currently Wolverhampton Champions.
Football We run both a senior and junior football club during lunch times. This is open to all abilities. We do enter teams in to the local competitions. Our Year 7 tean are currently Wolverhampton League Champions and also won the Jimmy Mullen Cup which was played at the Molineux Stadium.
Gymnastics The gymnastics club runs intermitently working towards the Wolverhampton Schools competition, which takes place in December. The club is available for all age groups and abilities to come along to. Pupils will have the opportunity to learn and develop new skills and to improve upon the skills that they already have. The girls work towards creating their own floor sequence and a vault

Cross Country There is a weekly cross-country practice during the autumn and spring terms. There is a cross-country team that competes in the Wolverhampton league and town championships. We have had success in these competitions in recent years. There are both individual and team competitions in these events.
Swimming The school has a swimming team which competes in the Wolverhampton league and also enters invitational competitions that we are invited to attend.
We have also entered teams in to the British Schools Biathlon competition, which combines swimming and running.
Tennis The tennis clubs run during the summer term. There are clubs open to all year groups. We also allow pupils to book out the tennis courts during the lunch hour in order to play recreational tennis with their friends. We enter teams in to the local leagues and tournaments and also into the National Aegon Schools Competition.
Athletics We run athletics clubs during the summer term. We have a track practice two lunch times per week. We also have separate throwing and jumping clubs that girls can come along to either to improve their performances or to try out for the school team. We have been overall Wolverhampton Schools Girls Champions for the past 4 years.
Dance We have a number of different dance classes that cater for different age groups and different styles of dance. This year we held our first dance show which was a huge success and we hope to repeat in future years.

Cricket We are very fortunate to have a strong link with Wolverhampton Cricket Club in Tettenhall. We welcome a coach from their club who comes into school to work with our students. Many of our students have gone on to represent the cricket club and we currently have six representing their county in cricket. Our under 15 team are currently the South Staffordshire Indoor Cricket Champions.

Rugby We also have a link with Wolverhampton Rugby Club and are pleased to welcome their coaches into school on a weekly basis to deliver rugby to our students. They get the opportunity to participate in local competitions.
Cheerleading We have a number of cheerleading squads throughout all age groups within the school. The cheerleading is actually delivered by our own student leaders who are able to lead and inspire their youngers peers. They have attended the UKCA National Cheerleading competition for the past two years.
 
Funfit There is a Fun-fit session that is open to all students to attend which runs two mornings a week before school. This allows pupils to come along and do some form of exercise of their choice before they go into formal lessons throughout the day.
Kickboxing We welcome an external coach who comes into school to work with our students to do self defence and kickboxing work. Departmental Activities
