The journey to put Lionel Bart’s classic musical onto the stage began in January when we auditioned for the principal parts of Oliver, Fagin, Dodger et al and formed the chorus of orphans, pick pockets and London street folk. Rehearsals began in earnest, with a special thank you to Emily Rogers for her dedication to getting the chorus into shape and producing some very impressive vocal performances. Miss Truelove created a lively “Consider Yourself” dance, full of cockney moves. Finally we transported ourselves to the Victorian courtyard of the Chubb Buildings in Wolverhampton for two sell out performances. The iconic music filled this wonderful venue, soaring up to the glass roof. Familiar characters were brought to life through outstanding performances all round and the dramatic finale of the play was followed by loud applause. Thanks to everyone who took part and helped along the way.
