School Library

The library contains over 8500 printed books as well as providing access to a range of electronic resources and activities, including:

• Fiction books

• Non Fiction books

• Careers and Higher Education  books and resources  

• Prospectuses

• Computers and laptops

• Magazines covering many subject areas and also a back copy archive area

• Access to a working and reading area

• Access to electronic resources which includes Eclipse Library Catalogue, Credo Reference and Indigo Careers.

• Activities and events throughout the year , including activities for World Book Day and book fairs

Accelerated Reader

​

Year 7 are currently taking part in the Accelerated Reader (AR) reading scheme. AR is a computer program that helps teachers manage and monitor children’s independent reading practice. Students pick a book at their level and read it at their own pace. When finished, students take a short quiz on the computer. Passing a quiz is an indication that a student has understood what they have read.

BookBuzz Reading Programme

All students in year 7 have had the opportunity to choose their own books to take home and keep from the Bookbuzz shortlist. They are all carefully selected by a panel of experts to ensure quality, suitability and to encourage reading for pleasure.
