Wolverhampton Girls’ High School celebrates GCSE success as students look ahead to Sixth Form

There was a wonderful atmosphere of celebration at Wolverhampton Girls’ High School today as students received their GCSE results, marking an important milestone in their school journey.

Students are celebrating an excellent set of results following years of hard work, determination and ambition. For the vast majority of the year group, today also marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter as they prepare to return to Wolverhampton Girls’ High School in September to continue their education in the Sixth Form.

While Results Day is naturally a celebration of academic achievement, it is also an opportunity to celebrate the young women behind the results and the contribution they have made to the school community.

Throughout their time at Wolverhampton Girls’ High School, students have been encouraged to embrace opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. From sport, music and the performing arts to leadership, enrichment, STEM and community activities, they have developed their interests, discovered new talents and grown in confidence.

Headteacher Mrs Young said:

"Today is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate an exceptional group of students. We are incredibly proud of what they have achieved and of the hard work, determination and resilience they have shown throughout their GCSE journey.

Of course, we are delighted with their academic achievements, but what makes us proudest is the rounded young women they have become. They have embraced opportunities, supported one another and made a wonderful contribution to our school community.

We are particularly excited that many of our students will continue their journey with us into the Sixth Form. They now have the opportunity to build on everything they have achieved, pursue subjects they are passionate about and take advantage of the many opportunities that Sixth Form life offers.

We look forward to welcoming them back in September."

The Sixth Form provides students with an exciting opportunity to take greater ownership of their education while continuing to benefit from the support and sense of community they have experienced throughout their time at the school.

Students will begin studying subjects they are passionate about, alongside a broad programme of enrichment, leadership, careers and personal development opportunities designed to prepare them for life beyond school.

For the Class of 2026, today is therefore not an ending, but the beginning of their next chapter at Wolverhampton Girls’ High School.

Their GCSE results represent years of learning, perseverance and personal growth. More importantly, they reflect a group of young women who have developed the confidence and resilience to embrace new challenges and opportunities.
